Project recovery · Private AI · Alberta energy
Senior project managers who walk the site, backed by a private AI network that reads every schedule, cost report and filing in hours — running on hardware inside your walls, in Alberta. Fixed fees. Published. No slides.
Built for midstream and producers · EPCs and contractors · Industrial Heartland owners · Indigenous equity partners
01
Fixed fees, published.
The price is on this page. No other firm in Alberta does that.
02
Your data never leaves your walls.
Compute, models, storage and support — inside your building, in Alberta, on hardware you can walk up to.
03
Site to boardroom.
We talk to the hands and the executive in the same day. The schedule can mislead; the site doesn't.
What we do
Project recovery
A two-to-three-week diagnostic: what went wrong, what it costs to fix, and a recovery plan the site will follow. We stay through execution if you want us to.
Project controls
P6 health checks, earned value, change-order discipline, forensic schedule analysis for claims and disputes.
Regulatory
Every condition, deadline and filing in one tracker. First drafts in hours. Complete, defensible applications under compressed timelines.
Private AI network
A set of specialist AI desks — controls, regulatory, documents, records — that read, track, draft and remember, on hardware inside your walls. We leave it behind. You own it.
AI integration & coaching
We connect the network to your P6, cost systems and document stores, then coach your controls leads, regulatory staff and PMs hands-on until they don't need us.
Owner's representation
Independent oversight of contractors and EPCs for owners without a project office — mid-caps, Indigenous equity vehicles, first-time project sponsors.
The AI network
Generic AI tools forget your project the moment you close the window, and send everything you type to a server you'll never see. Ours is built differently: a network of specialist desks tuned for Alberta energy by people who have run the projects, with a permanent memory of your work, running on your hardware.
Open-licence models. No per-seat fees forever. No vendor who can change the price or switch off the model. If Walkdown vanished tomorrow, your network keeps working.
Controls desk
Reads P6 and cost exports, flags slips and variances, drafts the variance narrative.
Regulatory desk
Tracks every AER and CER condition and deadline; drafts filings and consultation records.
Documents desk
Indexes contracts, change orders, RFIs and drawings so the answer on page 212 is found in seconds.
Project memory
Every decision, who made it and why — per project, per person, kept in plain files you can read without any AI at all.
Review & audit
A second model checks the first. Every action is logged with model and version. Nothing is sent, paid or filed without a person confirming.
AI integration and coaching
We don't install a tool and leave. We integrate the network with the systems you already run, then coach your controls leads, regulatory team and project managers until it's theirs. The hardware scales only when the demand is real — same software, same files, from one person to three thousand.
1 – 20 people
A single machine inside your building, one project or one regulatory desk, your people coached on it in a week. It proves itself on real work before anyone buys anything bigger.
100 – 300 people
Moves into your data centre or an Alberta colocation. Your logins, your identity system, a desk for every team that needs one. We coach the desk owners; your IT runs the pipes.
3,000 people
Enterprise-grade, every byte still in Alberta. Nothing is rebuilt to get here — the memory built on day one is still there. You own the system; we remain the energy-sector expertise behind it for as long as you want us.
Fee menu
Fixed wherever it can be. Senior people only. If the diagnostic finds nothing worth fixing, we say so and stop.
Recovery diagnostic
2–3 weeks. Site walkdown, full document read, root cause, costed recovery plan.
C$25,000 – 40,000
Senior PM, on site
Recovery lead, owner's representative, controls lead. Day rate, no minimum.
C$1,500 – 2,000 / day
Regulatory tracker + drafting
Conditions, deadlines, filings — set up in a week, then monthly.

How a walkdown works
1
Two days on site, foreman to project director. Then every file you have: P6, cost reports, change log, contracts, filings.
2
The private network reads it all in hours, not weeks — variances, slips, open conditions, the clause buried on page 212.
3
A senior PM makes every judgment. The system never signs anything. Every deliverable states where AI assisted and who verified it.
4
A costed recovery plan written for the people who have to execute it. Keep us on, or take it in-house — the network's memory of the job stays with you.
Inside your walls
Most "sovereign AI" vendors store your data in Canada and run it somewhere else. We pass the strict test — compute, models, storage and support, all inside your building, all in Alberta. Come and see it.
Security and resilience
Defence in depth, no single point of failure, and an audit trail that cannot be quietly edited. Your security team gets the full architecture document and a walkthrough of the hardware before anything is signed.
Network
Air-gapped by default; remote access only over a WireGuard-based overlay with device-level identity and per-user ACLs. No public endpoint exists to attack. Outbound traffic egresses through an allowlisted, logging proxy.
Encryption
Full-disk encryption on every node and backup volume; keys held in hardware-backed secure enclaves, never in files. Credentials and API secrets live in the OS keychain with per-process entitlements.
Identity & access
SAML/OIDC integration with your identity provider; least-privilege roles per desk; hard tenant isolation so no project, person or model context can read across a boundary. Enforced in code, not in prompts.
Redundancy
Three copies, two media, one off-site — encrypted, with automated monthly restore verification, not just backup jobs. UPS-protected nodes; active-standby second node available at division scale and above for high availability.
Audit
Every action is appended to an immutable, SHA-256-chained log with model, version and user, mirrored nightly to write-once media. An altered or deleted entry breaks the chain visibly. Full logs are yours to export at any time.
AI safety controls
All ingested content is quarantined as untrusted and processed by a tool-less model before it reaches one that can act. Any send, file, pay or delete requires explicit human confirmation. Code and data analysis run in isolated micro-VMs, never on the host.
Supply chain
Open-licence models in safetensors format only; pinned, hash-verified dependencies; third-party tools sandboxed and reviewed before use.
Privacy and residency
All processing in Alberta. No telemetry. No training on client data. Personal information (consultation records, HR data) is segregated and never leaves the node. Aligned with PIPEDA and Alberta PIPA.
Assurance
Controls mapped to SOC 2 and ISO 27001 domains; independent offline audit of code and logs available on request; penetration testing of a mirrored instance before enterprise deployment.
Who shows up
Walkdown Projects is led by Dale Matvichuk, PMP — twenty-five years in energy construction, including more than ten as a project manager with TC Energy, and a current TC Energy contractor. He has worked on the owner side, the EPC side and the pipeline-contractor side — TC Energy, Enbridge and Trans-Northern Pipelines; Fluor, Bechtel, Jacobs, KBR and EllisDon; Waschuk, Banister, Marine Pipeline, Somerville and Summit — which means he has sat on every side of every argument a troubled project produces.
He walks the site, speaks with the crew and the executive in the same afternoon, and has never recovered a project from a conference room.
The bench is senior Calgary project people — controls, regulatory, owner's engineering — paid as seniors, on fixed-fee work, so the good ones say yes.
Scope: schedule, cost, controls, PMO, regulatory process and recovery planning. Where engineering judgment is required under APEGA, a P.Eng. holds the pen.
